• What is a descriptive text?

Descriptive text is a text that describes, explains or illustrates a particular object in detail. In this descriptive text learning, we will learn 4 points, namely Social Function, Generic Structure, Language Features, and Examples. Jadi, seperti yang sudah disinggung di awal, pada teks ini, kamu akan menggambarkan objek secara jelas. Bisa ukurannya, warna, bentuk, bau, dan lain sebagainya.

• Structure Descriptive Text

Structure of a descriptive text typically consists of two main parts:

1. Identification (Introduction/classification)
Provides general information about it. It includes details such as the name of the object, its origin, and other basic facts.

2. Description (Characteristic features)
In this part, the specific characteristics and details of the object are presented in a detailed manner. It may include the object's physical appearance, size, color, and other unique features. Jadi secara lebih rinci Identification adalah Informasi umum tentang objek dan Description adalah Karakteristik terperinci dan detail spesifik tentang objek. Struktur ini memungkinkan pembaca memperoleh pemahaman yang jelas dan gamblang mengenai objek yang dideskripsikan.

• Language Features of a descriptive text

1. The use Adjectives
Penggunaan kata sifat membantu dalam memberikan deskripsi yang lebih hidup dan detail.

2. Simple present tense.
simple present tense membantu dalam memberikan deskripsi yang akurat dan faktual.

3. Adverb of frequency.
Adverb of frequency digunakan untuk memberikan informasi tentang seberapa sering suatu kegiatan dilakukan.

4. Specific participant .
Penggunaan kata benda yang spesifik membantu dalam memberikan deskripsi yang lebih detail dan akurat.

5. The use of Action Verbs.
penggunaan kata kerja membantu dalam memberikan deskripsi tentang aktivitas yang terkait dengan objek yang dideskripsikan.

6. Figurative Language
Figurative language digunakan untuk memberikan ilustrasi yang lebih hidup dan menarik bagi pembaca.

1. Sight: Describing the appearance of objects, people, or places, using adjectives and comparisons to help the reader visualize the scene.

2. Smell: Including scents and aromas to create a more sensory experience, using words like "fresh," "musty," or "spicy" to evoke specific smells.

3. Sound: Adding sounds to the description, using onomatopoeia or words like "whisper," "rumble," or "echo" to create a more immersive experience.

4. Taste: Including flavors and textures to help the reader experience the taste of food or other items, using words like "sweet," "bitter," or "crunchy" to evoke specific tastes.

5. Touch: Describing textures, temperatures, and other tactile sensations, using words like "smooth," "rough," or "soft" to help the reader experience the physical sensation of the object being described.

Transitive verb and intransitive verb are two types of verbs in English.

💫Transitive verb is a verb that needs an object to make a sentence that has full meaning. An example is "kicked" in the sentence "John kicked the ball."

💫Intransitive verbs are verbs that don't need an object. An example is "laughed" in the sentence "John laughed."

An adverb of manner is an adverb that states the way an activity is done or an event occurs. Adverbs of manner are usually placed after the main verb or after the object, and cannot be placed between the verb and its direct object.

 Example:

💫He swims well. [adverb of manner: well]

💫She spoke softly. [adverb: softly]

💫He ate the chocolate cake greedily. [adverb: greedily]
